About My Autism Assessment
Expert assessments, clear guidance, ongoing support.

How My Autism Assessment started

My Autism Assessment was founded by Chris Wade, a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist who’s spent the past 19 years working in Autism diagnostic teams, in the NHS and private practice.
In those years, Chris saw first-hand what a good assessment looks like: a whole team involved, gold-standard tools, and time taken to get it right. He set up My Autism Assessment to do exactly that, privately, without the years-long wait. He also wanted to stay involved after the report, so the recommendations are put into practice.
Today, that vision is delivered by a multidisciplinary team. We see clients face-to-face at our clinics in South Wales and West Yorkshire, with home visits and partner clinic appointments across Wales and England.
Since February 2024, we’ve been commissioned to deliver Autism diagnostic assessments in partnership with Powys NHS Integrated Autism Services..

Backed by Wade Therapy Services
My Autism Assessment is part of Wade Therapy Services, an established therapy practice founded and led by Chris Wade.
Being part of a wider therapy practice gives us the professional foundation behind every assessment we deliver. As we’re the dedicated assessment side of the practice, we can stay focused on getting assessments right
A strengths-based approach
Our assessments are strengths-based. That means we take the time to understand each person’s strengths, alongside the areas where support may help.
We believe this leads to more accurate diagnoses and recommendations that genuinely fit a person’s life.
Every child, teenager and adult who comes to us is treated as an individual, not a case to be processed. The same approach continues after the report, with built-in, individualised support that helps families and adults put the recommendations into practice.
How we work

Our approach is built around a few simple commitments:
- Clarity. We explain things plainly, without jargon, so you always know what is happening and why.
- Strengths first. We look for strengths as well as challenges, recognising neurodiversity as part of who someone is.
- Honesty. We are honest about what an assessment can and cannot tell you, and about cost, from the very first conversation.
- Support. We stay with you beyond the report, because that’s where real change begins.
Meet the people behind the assessments
A strengths-based assessment depends entirely on the people carrying it out. Our team are experienced clinicians who listen carefully, take the time to understand each person, and care about getting it right for you.
